Burdens in My Backapack, Inside the Lions Den, the book speaks to socioeconomic issues that has stifled communities and generations -- addiction. While LaTia was able overcome her impoverished environment, families addiction and the adversity she endured as a result, the majority of people don't share LaTia's success. The book is a teaching tool inspire urban youth to stay in the fight for their lives. It's also designed to educate society on the extremely difficult lives that children of addicts have during and after addiction. For most, success is nearly impossible resulting in young people's lives being lost to gangs, drugs, jail and generational poverty.
In the upcoming movie for this book, we plan to bring awareness and hopefully conversation, resources and support to this population. |
